The Duque Family

We are an intercultural and international family who loves serving the Lord and the poor. We consider it a privilege to be called by God and to GO and OBEY Him.

We are Missionary Educators Nestor & Donata and have two beautiful children Jedidia & Joshua. We were sent out by the Vrije Evangelisatie Zwolle (VEZ), and the Church of God denomination which has its headquarters based in Cleveland, TN.

Nestor Duque is Ecuadorian/Canadian and holds a Master of Divinity from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary in Cleveland, TN. He earned his Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Guayaquil in Ecuador.  He started his ministry in Toronto where he served several years as the assistant of the Hispanic Ministries Director. Later he pastored the Ebenzear Iglesia de Dios in Kitchener for two years. In 2005 Nestor moved to Ecuador and served 4 years as faculty member and Director of the Transcultural Studies Program.

Donata Duque-Voerman was born and raised in The Netherlands. As a child she received her missionary calling, and she left for Bolivia in 1996. She holds a Master of Arts in Christian Formation and Discipleship from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary. After her graduation in 2004 she went back to Latin America and taught 5 years at SEMISUD (South American Seminary).

In 2008 they got married and one year later arrived their first born Jedidia (which means 'Beloved of God'). The family took the Godly challenge to reopen the indigenous seminary (SEMILA) in Riobamba in 2009. One year later their son Joshua (which means 'Jehova saves') was born.

Joshua's favorite meal is 'Seco de Pollo' (Rice & chicken) and he loves swimming and hockey. Jedidia's favorite meal is Spaghetti with white sauce. She loves to study and to play with her friends. Donata loves bread with chocolate sprinkles and coffee!...and Nestor's favorite dish is Ceviche (A typical fish 'soup', but it's actually a sin to call it a soup)
